Video from Symposium 2024
Switzerland is consistently recognized among the world’s most innovative nations, and its healthcare system ranks among the very best. The essential ingredients for medical innovation are all here: world-leading universities, outstanding hospitals, cutting-edge research, and a strong life sciences industry. Yet scientific excellence alone does not improve patient care. Innovation creates value only when new discoveries successfully make the journey from the laboratory to the bedside.
That journey depends on a chain of interconnected steps: from scientific discovery and clinical validation to regulation, reimbursement, implementation, and adoption in everyday practice. The strength of this chain is what ultimately determines whether scientific discoveries translate into meaningful improvements in patient outcomes. Success therefore depends not only on ambition or investment, but on how effectively researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs, regulators, payers, and policymakers work together. It requires rigorous evaluation, transparent evidence, and coordinated decision-making at every stage.
This year’s symposium, “Along the Chain of Innovation – Innovation Transfer in Switzerland,” brings together the key actors who shape this journey. Across three sessions, clinicians, entrepreneurs, regulators, payers, and institutional leaders will examine the opportunities, bottlenecks, and responsibilities that define successful innovation transfer.
Each session will conclude with an interactive panel discussion, inviting participants to contribute their perspectives and engage directly with the speakers. Together, we will explore where Switzerland’s innovation ecosystem already excels, where stronger collaboration is needed, and how we can ensure that tomorrow’s medical breakthroughs reach the patients who need them most.
